Collectie: Trigger

Trigger is a publication initiated by FOMU that provides a space for critical reflection on photography. It brings together voices from across the field—artists, scholars, and practitioners—to challenge dominant narratives and highlight perspectives that are often overlooked.

Each year, Trigger publishes a thematic book in collaboration with FW:Books, curated by a guest editor whose ongoing research serves as the starting point for dialogue. The annual theme emerges from this research and grows through collective inquiry, connecting diverse perspectives and practices.

The Trigger website complements the book series with carefully curated content that deepens the annual theme, foregrounds emerging voices, and supports collaborative reflection. Rather than focusing on standalone reviews or portfolios, it fosters sustained critical engagement and debate around photography.

By engaging with photography’s history, contemporary practices, and future directions, Trigger explores the medium’s evolving role in shaping culture and perception. It examines the forces that influence photographic representation and advocates for a more inclusive, reflective, and forward-looking photographic discourse.
